According to a report by New Telegraph, controversy has surrounded the death of a businessman, Mr. Nelson Agbambu, in Benin, Edo State.

The deceased’s family members are presently asking the police and the state government to do everything within the ambit of the law to fish out his killers.

While his friends insisted that Nelson died in a lone car accident, autopsy result showed that he died of gunshot wounds. Nelson’s family wants the police to unravel the true circumstances of his death.

According to the grieving family members, they refused to believe the story that Nelson died in an auto accident. Nelson reportedly died in an accident on November, 27, 2018, at about 7pm, at Santana Market, along Sapele road.

Two of his best buddies have been arrested by the police in connection with his death. Nelson’s elder brother, Mr Patrick Agbambu, said that the family believed there was a conspiracy to conceal the fact of how their brother died.

Patrick said: “On the fateful day in question, I received a call from Nelson’s closest friend, Jonathan, aka Boston, that my brother died in a lone accident along the road. But a closer look at the vehicle and his corpse left us suspicious. Both the airbag and the seatbelt of the Lexus car with which Nelson had the accident were intact. autopsy report revealed that Nelson was gunned at a close range.

“On November 27, 2018, I was called that my brother had an accident along Sapele road. On the 28th, I came to Benin and located where his remains were deposited at Central H o s p i t a l by some of his friends.

“When I saw his corpse the first question I asked was where was the vehicle he had an a c c i d e n t with? I went to the police station and saw the vehicle.

“However, the damage on the vehicle made me to doubt that his death was due to an accident. His death was not caused by the accident otherwise the airbag would have come out.

“We had engaged a pathologist, who then removed about 15 pellets from his body. We want him to be buried because the mortuary at the Central Hospital is nothing to write home about. The last time I was there, his fingernails had been bitten by rats.

We had sworn to an affidavit that we wanted him to be buried. I was invited to the area command to make another statement. Two days ago, the police now asked that we should try and locate two of the suspects, who are now in police custody. One of them is the guy that accessed his vehicle shortly after the accident. The guy took the keys to my late brother’s house and removed some items.”
